Thanks to all who chipped in to make Boxing Out Negativity’s 3rd annual Juneteenth event a resounding success!
With a generous grant from the Steans Family Foundation and additional support provided by Riot Fest, St. Anthony Hospital, UCAN, Equiticity, and Pepsi, Boxing Out Negativity was honored to host a two-day celebration of unity in the community on 16th Street in North Lawndale! The first day – Father’s Day – featured our first-ever USA Boxing-sanctioned boxing competition, carnival rides, a zip line, and more; Juneteenth featured a game truck, live entertainment, and more. The “Holy City Anthem” in the latter half of the below video is an original collaboration by local artists that was debuted at the event. Everything was free to the community. We’re grateful for the partnership of the Firehouse Community Arts Center, Chicago Police Department, Building Brighter Futures – Center for the Arts, and other organizations who helped to make this what it was!
