Thanks to Our Sponsors!

We’re excited for our Street Love Ride on August 15th – a 9 mile, 2 hour ride for peace in North Lawndale. (Ride kicks off at 8pm, preceded by food and a community expo from 5pm-8pm!)

That said, we could not have done this work on our own! This is part of Boxing Out Negativity’s Summer of Peace event series supported by a grant from The Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities, made possible by the Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities. (Check them out on Twitter and Instagram: @safepeacefulchi)

We are fortunate to be planning the event in partnership with Equiticity and with the support of our bike-loving friends at Working Bikes and the Lawndale Christian Fitness Center – check out their great work! Thanks to Frackle Media for designing our flyer.

Several sponsors have generously supported this event. Lyft/Divvy pledged financial support and offered the use of 100 Divvy bikes for the ride – so 100 people who don’t own a bike will still be able to join us! This *is* the spirit of our work – making sure that everyone has access to positive experiences and loving communities with no barriers to access. (Boxing Out Negativity operates at no cost to youth or their families.)

St. Anthony Hospital, which supports health and community wellness in Lawndale, is also providing generous support -check them out at the community expo before our ride! (We might also have a stop at their Community Wellness Center – stay tuned!)

We have a pledge from Sam Schwartz, an engineering, planning, and consulting firm committed to “building a safer, more sustainable, liveable future–for everyone.” (We support that vision!)

UCAN is also supporting the ride. UCAN does critical work to support youth who have suffered trauma in becoming our future leaders. Shout out to their Violence Intervention and Prevention Team!

And, YWCA – Chicago has pledged their support as part of the U.S. Census effort. Have you filled out your census yet? If not, commit to completing it today – Go to https://2020census.gov/ to make sure your community is counted!

This is what community looks like – we are touched by those who are pitching in to support a cause bigger than themselves as we show some love and ride for peace on the streets of North Lawndale. We are in deep gratitude to all those who have joined our planning committee, volunteered, sponsored this event, signed up for our community expo, and RSVP’d for the ride!
